ACA Lessons
From "first time in a kayak" to expert, our Skills Training sessions are a great way to have fun and to build your skills! These courses focus on skill sets specific to their respective environments and are taught in respect to the ACA standards. All classes are smi private, meaning you are private or with similar skill level students.
Intro to Kayaking

You don't have to have any experience to join this 1.5-2 hour introductory class. Our introduction to kayaking course is a fun and easy way to get started kayaking. In this half day class you will learn about kayaking safety, equipment, launching and landing and basic strokes.
This class is geared for all types of kayaks, from sit on top and recreational boats to touring sea kayaks. Beginners are welcome.
Equivalent to ACA Level 1 training
Cost: $69.50 - Time: 2-2.5 hours
Essentials of Touring
- This lesson will refine everything touched on in the intro course and brings in some higher level strokes and manuevers to really unlock the potential of a given kayak. Sit inside kayaks are used to get the most out of the strokes. Focus is spent on edging, core rotation and efficiency though the water.
Equivalent to ACA Level 2 Training

Safety and Rescue Workshop
- Being safe on the water is your top priority. Our Safety & Rescue Workshop prepares you for the unexpected and will help build your confidence on the water. We will cover wet exits (getting out of your kayak once it has capsized), recoveries (getting back into your kayak solo & assisted), bracing (preventing capsize), and simple towing techniques.
These safety skills are essential to all kayakers and should be practiced regularly. This is a great follow up class to our Introduction to Kayaking class.

Sea Kayak Workshop
A class designed to bring in all the elements spoken about above and put them all together to give you a solid foundation of all skills, manuevers and rescues you will need and leave you feeling confident in your own ability to command a sea kayak. Some paddling experience is all that is needed and we will take care of the rest.
Cost: $129.50 - Time: 4-5 hours
